The conclusion to be drawn from this thesis is: why do specific tactics only work in specific places? Furthermore, why were Western civilization tactics effective in Western countries like Europe, but not effective in countries like Egypt? All in all, the reason for this is due to the natural geographical disadvantages that Egypt faced compared to Europe. These two countries differ in the domestication of plants and animals, as well as in size and population. In addition to this, the terrain and environment of different regions of the world have a major impact on the success of civilizations. Egypt is a country located in Northwest Africa, right next to the Nile River. Egypt also borders the coasts of the Mediterranean and the Red Sea; thus the Egyptians rely heavily on nearby waterways. The size of Egypt is about four times that of the United Kingdom or about the size of Texas and New Mexico combined. As regards the territory, Egypt is predominantly desert; only about 3.5% of the total land is cultivated and harvested. For this reason, 99% of Egypt's population resides along the Nile Valley and the Nile Delta. Due to the arid and dry climate, Egyptians see the Nile as sacred territory where they can grow crops such as cotton, rice, corn, wheat, beans, fruits, vegetables, cattle, water buffalo, sheep, and goats. Jared Diamond, in his film “Germs, Guns and Steel” explained that civilizations that were able to domesticate animals and plants were mor...... half of the paper ......nation resides along the Nile and in France people are spread out due to a more favorable geography. Jared Diamond has reiterated, time and time again, that global inequity coincides with geography. Egypt, compared to France, had the natural disadvantage of having to deal with a desert climate, unlike the favorable growing climate of France. This allowed France to be naturally more skilled in areas such as planting crops; with negative effects for Egypt. Lack of water also contributed to inequality, as animals were able to thrive in environments that offered a surplus of water. Finally, more favorable geography in developed countries plays an important role in explaining why developing countries are not fully developed. Jared Diamond's thesis explains it comprehensively as geography is the reason for the unequal distribution of wealth in the world today.
