Falls Church High School is a diverse environment for implementing technology in the classroom. Falls Church has attracted many immigrants from throughout the Northern Virginia area. For a variety of reasons, many immigrants find the area surrounding Falls Church High School meets their family needs, including low-income housing, a large, established minority community, and easily accessible public transportation, meaning they are likely that their children attend Falls Church High School. For this reason, Falls Church has a large population of students who have limited English language skills and are on free or reduced lunch. Demographically, Falls Church has over 30% Hispanic students and white students are not the majority at Falls Church, making it a unique school in Fairfax County. The school now has more than 50 percent of students on free and reduced lunch, and this number could be even higher because many families do not report needing government assistance. Because of these unique demographics, teachers at Falls Church High School face a challenging teaching situation. Students often find it difficult to communicate with their teachers and have difficulty imagining their future beyond a couple of years. Many students do not come from families with more than a high school education, and in several situations, school ended for their parents before high school. Because of this, students do not realize the importance of education and are more focused on working for their own personal gain or to support their families. A large percentage of Falls Church students drop out of school before graduation because they perceive that their current monetary earnings will be sufficient to support their future. Russia. Students were able to positively and effectively learn information about the Byzantine Empire as long as they remained motivated and engaged in the activities of the Unit. The general project on the Byzantine Empire does not effectively teach students calculus information, but it does provide students with the background information needed for the SOL. Some obvious changes to the unit are needed, but they provide a solid foundation on which to build a better unit.
