The study of parental influence has been prevalent in child psychology. Different parenting styles automatically influenced their children and shaped them into the person they became. The degree to which parenting styles develop adolescent behavior is a basic extreme. Specifically, the study of neglectful parents determined that their children grow up to be socially awkward, delinquent and rebellious due to a lack of discipline, care, attention and, in most cases, love. Kopko focuses on the relationship between parenting styles and adolescent education. .. Addressing a parental audience, Kopko expresses the characteristics of each different parenting style and adolescent development. Kopko uses an effective compare and contrast method to help guide her audience towards a successful parenting style. Revealing all four types of parenting styles gives the parent insight into possible outcomes and the effects they may have on their offspring. Remaining impartial, the author continues to delve into children's development through each parenting style, expressing the advantages and disadvantages of each. More specifically, Kopko determines that neglectful parenting (which most researchers believe) is the most ineffective because it increases the rate of adolescent delinquency. it is much higher than any other parenting style. Kopko expresses what neglectful parents show and feel towards their children. Parents who appear neglectful or uninvolved toward their children often “minimize interaction time” with the child, inflicting neglect on the child. The author points out that parents are either "overwhelmed by their circumstances or may be self-centered", thus creating a child who demonstrates... middle of paper... demands for conformity and compliance" by expressing to the public that these factors they must be ideally considered when raising a teenager because if one goes wrong, the child could end up at the peak point of the delinquent trajectory with the other 1.7 For example, neglectful parents show no warmth towards their child nor control over him automatically destined to become a social delinquent while, on the contrary, a child of authoritative parents shows warmth but also a good deal of control which then places the child on the trajectory of non-delinquency. The empirically proven statistics of the influence of parents on the behavior of children teenagers serve the purpose of making parents and future parents understand the right way to raise a child because without the proper care and parenting style, the child could become an abnormal, juvenile or delinquent child..
