There has always been a debate about the use of animals in biomedical research and experimentation. They have been used in this field for centuries now and have proven to be very useful and have contributed to medical research much more than expected. With the use of animals in research, the medical field has made great progress. But in these experiments large numbers of animals are killed and the animals have to suffer a lot of pain and distress. Considering these pros and cons the question arises: is it appropriate to use animals in testing? Although large numbers of animals are used and sometimes killed in these types of experiments, these experiments have advanced the medical field. Animal testing has contributed too many life-saving treatments and cures, and there is no satisfactory alternative to testing on a whole living physical system. Furthermore, animals are appropriate research subjects because they are similar to humans in many respects (genetically, common ancestry, same set of organs, etc.). Animals should be used in cases where ethical considerations prevent the use of human subjects. Animal research is highly regulated, with laws in place to protect animals from mistreatment. Animals also benefit from this type of experimentation. With all these points in mind, the answer to the question is clear. Yes, animals should be used in biomedical research and testing. With the progress of world civilization and the transition of the world to the modern world, there is also a progress in the medical field and man has identified many new medicines and developed many of the old drugs into more effective medical ointments and has also established several new methods of treatment and relief of humanity...... middle of paper ......between humans and animals".
