In November 1923, a German veteran, Adolf Hitler, attempted to follow Mussolini's example by setting up a small coupe in Munich. This coup failed and Hitler attempted to seize Munich but failed and was imprisoned. Over the next decade, Hitler became a legal ruler. Hitler's rise to power raises questions: How did this ruthless leader gain the total support of the Germans? The answer to this question is still unknown to this day. For starters, the rise and fall of the Weimar Republic were bound to happen. “As World War I drew to a close, Germany teetered on the brink of chaos. Under the threat of a socialist revolution, the Kaiser abdicated. The moderate leaders signed the armistice and later, against protest, the Treaty of Versailles” (Ester, 2010). In 1919, German leaders created the democratic government known as the Weimar Republic, created by the constitution drafted in the city of Weimar. There were political fights. Politically the republic was weak because Germany had many small parties. “They wanted another leader as strong as Bismarck” (Ester, 2010). “With the help of Western power, the government has brought inflation under control. In 1924, the United States won British and French approval for a plan to reduce German reparation payments” (Ester, 2010). Second, the Nazi Party came to power. “Adolf Hitler was born in Austria, in 1889. At the age of 18 he went to Vienna, then the capital of the multinational Habsburg empire” (Ester, 2010). When Hitler lived in Vienna he cultivated an anti-Semitic mentality. In other words, it became extremely prejudicial towards Jews. This later played an important role in his rise to power. Hitler made an unsuccessful attempt to take control of Munich in 1923. “He was arrested and found guilty of treason. W... middle of paper... but a brutal totalitarian system of government. The Nazis controlled all areas of German life: from government to religion to education” (Ester, 2010). To work towards building the future, the Nazis indoctrinated young people with ideology. During excursions and in leyakty camps he was promised by the "Hitler Youth" to Germany and began to undergo physical tests and training to enter the war. In conclusion, Hitler was a cruel and unusual leader, but he managed to accomplish what he wanted without any problems. Well, after his attempt to take over Munich failed and he was put in prison. Hitler legally became chancellor and within a year became the dictator of Germany. Under his rule Germany underwent changes in positive and negative ways, positive with new highways, schools and housing, but negatively due to his harsh ways of leading Germany, such as the brutal murder of non-loyal citizens..
