This statement is extremely false. The humanities, liberal arts, and social sciences are transforming into different forms to meet the needs of today's society. The new aspect of the humanities would fall into the categories of finance, journalism, business, politics and many other examples of this new shift towards the modern age (Pickstone). The medieval education style has been permanently changed forever. It is the old trivium system and the quadrivium has now entered into practice. Trivium was the exercise of grammar, the use of logic and the application of rhetoric. The Quadrivium was the study of astronomy, music, geometry and arithmetic. These two lessons were divided into two different disciplines, the trivium being the core of the humanities and the quadrivium applied to the sciences (Garber) This split between “Culture” and “Nature” developed at the end of the 17th century when a discipline was created specification and calling this specialized field “science”. This practice was adopted to observe and analyze developmental patterns that eliminated human communities and rapid numerical decline in a species (Adamson).
