Scientists believe that if global climate change goes unchecked, it will have a greater impact on the world and its people. Global warming is the increase in temperature in the Earth's atmosphere caused by greenhouse gases and excessive amounts of carbon dioxide. Many of the earth's features have been affected and rearranged due to higher temperatures due to climate change. Over the last thirty years, the world has experienced a change in heat with temperature (Seaman 1). Due to rising temperatures around glaciers, snow caps are melting at higher rates, thus causing sea levels to rise by about a foot (Seaman 1). The melting of the snow caps has also changed and shifted the paths of sea currents. Global warming has been observed and measured over time and how it affects aspects of the earth. Many individuals and species have been affected and threatened by global climate change. Earth's soils, like vegetation, are drying up, thus causing drought in forests, mountains and landscapes. Humans are damaged as much as the food chain because the first consumers eat the plants, and the quaternary consumers eat the first to third consumers (Coon 1). Weather and climate are also affected because higher temperatures will most likely produce weather phenomena such as a heat wave (Coon 1). Animal habitats are also being affected because global climate change will destroy their shelters or shift the land they live on. Other factors that make species threatening are that some ...... middle of paper ... serve to get their point across on global climate change. More information about global climate change and self-awareness should be shown to the world in order to gather support from individuals for a strong cause against global climate change. The Kyoto Protocol was a brilliant proposal because it took nations affected by global warming around the world and established an ideal commitment to regulate or even stop the production of greenhouse gases in the world's atmosphere. If more people became more concerned or had a sense of caution about global warming, the world would have more green energy and less pollution. Scientists must have a feeling of awareness because if global warming continues to accumulate throughout the world, nations will suffer and the world would eventually end due to higher temperatures and greenhouse gases.
