You can tell the boy is drawn to his meal because his eyes are fully animated and his mouth is wide open, ready to take a huge bite. The text below the image states: “Feeding children meat is child abuse” (PETA). This statement may be slightly harsh but its message is strong enough to attract attention. It provided its audience of parents, adults and possibly children with the right knowledge and affirmations that could help protect an animal's life and the lives of children. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA, is a global organization that focuses on protecting animal rights and cruelty. They have been active for over thirty years and have published numerous provocative and informative advertisements describing animal cruelty and the ban against it. These announcements have drawn much criticism for their efforts to help animals and have caused several public discussions among other organizations. This particular PETA ad caused a lot of controversy due to its bold choice of words that offended its audience. This controversial advertising poster launched by PETA with the aim of promoting vegetarianism. The campaign was launched in Easington, County Durham, which has an obesity rate 22% higher than the national average. In the advertisement, PETA Europe warned parents that feeding their children meat amounts to child abuse. (Balendue).PETA uses not only its ethics when conducting advertising campaigns, but also the charm of pathos to capture the audience it targets. PETA has done a sufficient job in terms of achieving a strong and informative ad. The way they paired the text with the photography made the ad stand out.
