“There were no smiles. There weren't even any tears. Only the camaraderie of fellow sufferers. Everyone wanted to tell their neighbor how much they had lost. Nobody wanted to listen. It was too repetitive a story” (The New York Times, World History Book). The stock market crash was just one of many contributors to the Great Depression. Many economic and social conditions worsened during this period. Luckily there have been documentaries about the life people lived and how they overcame it, just like the character in the movie Cinderella Man, Jim Braddock. Millions of Americans and even people around the world have been affected and affected in some way by this tragic period in history. There was no single action or event that triggered the stock market crash. It was a series of bad judgments and choices by consumers, neglected by the expenses and the era they had just experienced full of wealth and prosperity. Consumers have continually invested in the stock market, leading to excessive speculation, poor government policies, and, all in all, an unstable economy. Large investors, sensing an unfavorable outlook and future for the stock market, withdrew their money from the market and turned directly to the banks. Due to the crash and its aftermath, which revealed serious flaws in the American economy, it led to the Great Depression. The collapse caused more than 5,000 banks to close, and for many who invested their money only in banks, it was a devastating crisis. Farmers began to face difficult times as unemployment rates increased. No one had the money to pay for food, leaving farm prices cheap, which meant lower income… middle of the paper… The Depression was the most severe recession in economic history. It has left people homeless, unemployed, separated from loved ones and even dead. During the Depression, Americans faced the most difficult time of their lives. Those who were able to carry on and achieve their American Dream were the ones who made it. The dream was different for everyone. For some it may have been the dream to survive all this. Others might have rummaged around and found whatever else they could find to keep their family together. And first, he had to present himself as the hero that his family and his city saw even during this crisis. He had to go through many failures, pain, love and success in order to experience and survive this fall known as the Great Depression. This life and these hardships ultimately turned out to be a fantastic Cinderella story.
