Topic > Holocaust Discourse: Holocaust Survivors

Sixty years have passed since the Holocaust and to some it may seem like ancient history, but to others it still remains real and ever present. People around the world are still wounded by the Holocaust and will be forever scarred in their hearts, but like anyone else who suffers a great tragedy like 9/11 or the Boston Marathon bombing, they must rise again. The Jews and the millions of innocent victims were all struck down. What do we have today? What do we have today? and they have returned to our hearts, and for this reason they are far from being forgotten. Holocaust survivors have risen again and all have shown resilience. For me they are extraordinary and are among the strongest people in the world. After an atrocity like the Holocaust, survivors can stand up and tell their stories. I wish I could meet one of these strong survivors to hear all their stories because without them I feel we would lose so much. We would lose everything they taught us and that is too precious. I am so grateful to all the survivors and hope that one day I will be able to speak to one in person. You have shown us so much and taught us to properly remember the Holocaust. You taught us that remembering the Holocaust is not just about remembering the day it ended, but about remembering all those strong men, women, and children who died in the Holocaust. There are many ways in which the Holocaust will be remembered. One way he will be remembered is a time when happiness was once taken away. We all know that the Holocaust was a difficult time to go through. People have gone from being happy, enjoying life and living life, to constantly crying and hoping it will all end. The only thing that keeps them together is their family and their strength. Happiness was... at the center of the card... learned from the Holocaust and the survivors. Holocaust survivors taught me that you don't need a bunch of toys and presents to be happy.
