“What athletic trainers really do…. Athletic trainers save lives!” The career I choose for my research paper is my future career which is that of an athletic trainer. Do you like working with different types of people? Do you like sports and help others when they need help? This career works with different types of people and different types of sports. Doing this research on this topic made me think about whether I really wanted to become an athletic trainer. There are many interesting things about an athletic trainer. Many people don't know what they do and how to become one. Athletic trainers are healthcare professionals who work with injuries resulting from any type of sport. They help athletes when they get injured during games or training. For this career you need education and also experience in this job. There are several places where you could get this job, which I will talk about later in my essay, there were salary, benefits and career opportunities on that job. If you like to move everywhere, this would be a great job to choose. There are jobs similar to those of athletic trainers. Research different things and find out great things about athletic trainers. You might find an athletic trainer wherever they play sports; because they are there to help any athlete who gets hurt. If there are more people playing sports, there will be more people getting injured. No matter the age of the injured player, the athletic trainer will help you with your injury. If a player gets hurt, he'll see what's wrong, he'll help you and get you up and moving. At North Dakota State University, athletic trainers have a licensed physician and other health care. (North Dakota State University) Some high schools…middle of the road…professional teams and they go everywhere with their players. The outlook is currently 18,200 in the United States. There are approximately 1,190 jobs opening up each year in the United States. Their skills must be the best because the players must depend on you. The bls.gov website states that “Athletic trainers are usually one of the first healthcare workers to respond to the scene where injuries occur.” (bls.gov) Working in a high school you have to know all the sports and all the types of injuries you could suffer while playing. For example, I was playing soccer with my high school team and one of the girls cut her head when she took a header. The athletic trainer rushed to help him and he helped her off the field very gently. Then he saw that he had to call 911 because she wanted that good, so he called them. But above all he knows what he needed to check first.
