Nutritionists may not be in high demand, but they serve a great purpose by advising people on how nutrition affects our health due to good or bad eating habits. Nutritionists have always interested me because I'm someone who has a strong interest in the business of health and nutrition, so I thought to myself... "Why not combine the two and make a career out of it?" In every profession there are pros and cons, according to an article in the New York Times, people do not consider nutritionist a profession because anyone can be self-taught and advise individuals on the rights and wrongs of eating habits without the practice and education. I certainly wouldn't be a nutritionist for the money, I'm happy with changing people's lives for the better. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual salary for nutritionists was $55,240 in May 2012. is a bachelor's degree in dietetics with some work experience in a related occupation. Courses involved in this profession include: nutrition, psychology, chemistry, and biology. It is highly recommended that you receive several hundred hours of professional training or internships enrolled in college and, of course, after graduation in coordinated programs in dietetics. Additionally, it is important to know the rules and requirements of the state you belong to because, depending on the state, you may be required to have a certificate along with a license in your supervised practice area or just one of the two. There are special cases in some states that do not have regulations for a nutritionist. For states that require a license, it is best to try to obtain the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential. Now, depending on the state you are in, you might… middle of paper… that nutritionist provides the correct nutrition to his athletes, especially when they travel. Regardless of the condition, all dietary needs must be met by both the nutritionist and the athlete. Dietitians are today's secret heroes. What would athletes, patients and customers of all ages do without them? This is definitely the career I see myself having when I mature and get older because I know that some people in the world really want to be fitter. We only have one body so we need to take as good care of it as possible. It has always been my interest to help people train and give advice, especially to my friends, but this is much bigger, it helps the world. I find this career interesting because not only do nutritionists have the chance to travel, work in different places or have the opportunity to meet different people, but they put their heart into their work.
