Ayyub, 2015, author of the article “An ethical challenge for healthcare professionals to answer the patient's question: am I dying?” states that revealing the truth to patients is one of the most challenging ethical dilemmas faced by healthcare professionals around the world. The problem becomes more complex when the family refuses to reveal the prognosis to the patient, especially if the patient is a child. The ultimate question is whether the nurse should respect the families' wishes and not tell the terminally ill child, or follow the Code of Ethics for Nurses. The nursing code of ethics is directed to “promote, support and strive to protect the health, safety and rights of the patient” (Punjani, 2013). Withholding the truth from a young patient could seriously threaten the trusting relationship and the patient could receive the information elsewhere. When disclosing pertinent information to the patient, it is important to note how the patient will handle the prognosis. No patient is the same and it is essential to talk to each patient so they can fully understand the situation. Many parents don't want to tell their children the prognosis because they believe their child will give up hope. They want the child's last days to be meaningful and eventful for them and the whole family. Whether the patient is capable of making his own decision
