Sergei's perception of music was accurate because he understood the impact and meaning that music can have. Everyone knows what music is and everyone has heard some form of it, but most people underestimate the value and power music has in our daily lives. Whether they know it or not, music plays a vital role in people's lives today. Music is a very effective tool that influences and assists people, it plays a huge role in today's society and has done so much for me as an individual. “An art of sound over time that expresses ideas and emotions in meaningful forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony and color” is music defined by Dictionary.com. This definition is mostly accurate, from a superficial point of view, although it does not cover the importance of music since music is vital in the rehabilitation and development of others. For example, music is a tool that can be very effective if used correctly. Let's take school-age children for example. In most cases, they are taught songs that are intended to help them remember important information. Even if the child cannot tell the lyrics of the song, he or she will most likely be able to hum the melody and recount the information. Music not only helps children, but it also helps adults adequately. This is the case with the classical music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as it is known to encourage learning.
