In William Shakespeare's famous novel Hamlet, many questions remained unanswered. One of the most controversial issues concerns the main character of the novel: Hamlet. Is Hamlet really mad or is he simply staging an act of madness? William Shakespeare does a good job of making Hamlet seem mad in several scenes of the novel. Throughout the book, Hamlet faced many tragedies that led to his emotional strain, such as his father's murder, his mother's suspicious marriage to his uncle, and witnessing his father's ghost, seeking revenge. All these events could lead to madness. Through Hamlet's intelligence and strong-willed personality, he found a way to act and deceive everyone into letting their true personalities shine through. First, Hamlet attempts to deceive Ophelia, Claudius, and Polonius with his wits. Polonius formulated a hypothesis for Hamlet's actions.
