The stock market crash, October 29, 1929, is also known as Black Tuesday. The Great Depression was an economic crisis that affected North America and Europe. The industrialized Western world had experienced the most ruthless and prolonged depression. Cinderella Man is just one example of how families struggle and overcome the Great Depression. You will see how this has been effective for many Americans. The reason why the stock market collapsed was due to two factors, economic and financial. For example, economic factors such as, poor distribution of wealth, many consumers relied on credit, credit dried up, consumer spending declined, and industries struggled. Financial factors posed a threat to stock market growth in the mid-1920s. Speculation on stock rises, margin buying encouraged by Federal Reserve policies, and stock prices rise to unrealistic levels. These factors contributed to the Great Depression in how people lost a lot of money. However, political and economic leaders were quick to calm the panic. They said this is only temporary and that the economy will recover soon. Many people, banks, businesses and even overseas operations were affected by the collapse. People lost not only their invested money, but also their savings, homes, everything they could sell to make up the difference they owed to intermediaries. Banks have also invested in the stock market. Between loans, deposits and margin investments, some banks have come under pressure to close. Businesses were also forced to close because customers weren't spending and banks couldn't lend. This resulted in overseas operations, so we could no longer lend money. We were trying to collect, but they couldn't refund. The United States and Europe... at the center of the card... have fallen and reconquered themselves by fighting and never giving up. The government must look carefully at the causes of this depression and how we can prevent it from happening again. Nowadays we seem to be getting closer to that. The government and/or citizens should find better ways to support spending to prevent the economy from collapsing and start rebuilding it again. However, we do not want to restore through war as happened then. Works Cited Ayers, Edward L., Schulzinger, Robert D., de la Teja, Jesus F., White, Deborah Gray. American anthem.
