Topic > Women's Struggles - 1166

Life is not easy, nor has it ever been. Thousands of years ago, prehistoric man focused his attention simply on survival. Every day he woke up to daily struggles, whether it was getting food, shelter, or clothing; that list doesn't even include defense against the occasional hungry saber-toothed tiger or voracious pack of wolves. Fortunately, meeting these basic needs has since become easier thanks to technology and innovation. However, following the improvement in the quality of life, new difficulties have arisen. Now, people have to deal with social views and cultural pressures that constantly add more stress and worry to life. No one has a harder and more stressful life than that of a woman. A woman's life is more difficult than a man's because she must endure reproductive responsibilities, maintain an attractive appearance, overcome discrimination, give up a career, and adapt to a naturally weaker physique. Although men must endure some natural hardships, such as a cracked voice during puberty, facial hair, and baldness, these sufferings pale in comparison to those of women. In order for the human race to move forward, Mother Nature has given women the responsibility of conceiving and carrying offspring. Apart from the nine months in which a woman carries a baby during pregnancy, she is forced to suffer during her menstrual cycles. Up to a week before their period, women may experience premenstrual symptoms, including mood swings, bloating, tender breasts, acne, drowsiness and cramps. This cycle occurs every month, from adolescence to about fifty years of age, when women enter menopause, during which they suffer from hot flashes, constant mood swings and depression (*). When women decide to conceive, they are faced with... paper issues... against their will. The main cause of accidents for women between fifteen and forty-four years old is domestic violence (*). Physical disadvantages not only limit women in their struggles against men, but also their overall struggles in life. Everyday tasks, such as lifting boxes or furniture, become more difficult. Add to this the fear of being exploited and you can't help but feel overwhelmed. A woman's life is full of difficulties. Some obstacles, such as menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and weakness, are natural and inevitable. They add stress to daily existence that humans can only imagine. Other struggles, including maintaining an attractive appearance, overcoming inequality and giving up a career, are generated by social pressures. Whatever the cause, a woman's life is certainly not easy; compared to that of a man, that is.
