In today's modern society, watching a film that pleases people both visually and aurally is part of everyday entertainment. As one of the many entertainments that can be easily approached, the movie offers a variety of genres that can satisfy different people with different choices. Furthermore, films are created in different studios of different countries with variety of languages. However, an oligopoly of Hollywood studios, also known as “the Majors,” have dominated world cinema for more than ninety years and still do so today (Silver, 2007). Over the past ninety years, many things have changed in the film industry, including the development of equipment, the introduction of color, and, most importantly, the introduction of sound. The sound was not always synchronized with the moving images nor was it always heard by the audience during the projection. Changes and technological development have made it possible to see and hear moving images as we experience them today. To keep up with the transition from the silent era to the sound era, Hollywood naturally went through changes in the filmmaking process and shaped the various genres that exist today.
