American citizens must understand that the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was an act of retaliation by the Americans and an attempt to end the war. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, prompting a US response. This event marked an important point in the history of our country. This memorable event occurred in 1945, during World War II. In fact the bombings were of great help in ending the war. The war had caused the United States to find the quickest way to end it along with retaliation for the attack on Pearl Harbor, so their solution was this. There were hundreds of thousands of deaths, and over 70% of the buildings in Hiroshima and 39% of those in Nagasaki were demolished.
