Syrian Civil WarThe ongoing civil war in Syria has been directly influenced by the “Arab Spring” and has very dire consequences for most possible outcomes. The “Arab Spring” is a revolutionary wave of protests in many Middle Eastern countries. Public opinion rebelled against their government and some of them successfully managed to force their ruler out of power, which showed Syrians that change was possible. The revolutionary countries that gave the Syrian public these ideas of change remain out of the war, but there are many other allied countries on both fronts. Bashar Al-Assad is the current president in Syria and rules like a dictator like his father before him, but the Syrian public does not like this. The population began peaceful protests in 2011, but the government responded very violently, resulting in a civil war. The war has been devastating for many people, but it doesn't seem to end. With the combined turmoil of the rest of the Middle East, some researchers believe a massive war could break out; some even say that Word War 3 is on the way. It seems like there are many possible outcomes for the war, but it's still not very clear what will happen to Syria as a country once it's all over. The main cause of this civil war was certainly the influence of the “Arab Spring”, but there were many other factors that accumulated to cause the public to revolt. People were very unhappy with the government, partly because many feared it due to too much state violence and partly because there had been no peaceful transfer of power since the 1950s.
