On September 11, 2001, terrorists crashed two American airliners into the Twin Towers, killing thousands of people. It was the worst terrorist attack in American history and showed us that we are not protected by the Atlantic and the Pacific. It showed us that we could be attacked by anyone at any time. It showed us that if we are attacked again we can only depend on each other and not on help from other nations. September 11th changed people forever, some lost family or friends, some lost their jobs, even the so called "American Dream". and fight so that we do not have to be ruined again. In recent videos, Osama bin Laden and his colleagues talk about the power of Islam and the attacks on the Twin Towers. It seems that Osama bin Laden and the other radicals are ready for “Jihad” and are ready to win. They say Allah is on their side and that people around the world want to know more about Islam after the September 11 attacks. A good example was John Walker, an American who was with a Taliban soldier when he was captured. He was studying Muslim traditions in Pakistan, where he joined the Taliban. I was watching "Dennis Miller Live" the other day where I heard Dennis Miller talking about John Walker, saying that his parents should give him more than just spankings. This showed me that even today, almost five months after 9/11, people are still talking about it. Our military campaigns in Afghanistan eliminated a regime that supported terrorism and other violent groups. Today there is no regime in Afghanistan and the country is rebuilding itself from the ruins of the Soviet war. John Ashcroft, who is now the famous man on TV, is probably the only one who takes the problem seriously. He said he wants to see if there are people who have links to Alquida and its cells. But some say it's unconstitutional to do so, but in the 1700s or even the 1800s terrorists didn't attack America. This means that our discovering fathers did not have to deal with the Ottoman Empire or its attacks because we were protected by the oceans. Even in the old days the constitution was not a factor that pushed some people to do something immoral or illegal.
