A worldview in the dictionary comes from the German word Weltanschauung which means a global conception or image of the universe and humanity's relationship to it. The way I think about worldview is as the view in which people see the world and make decisions about. Your worldview is based on what you believe and what your morals are. Paul Derengowski states: “A worldview is the interpretive philosophy that every thoughtful human being has developed, to interpret external data produced in the real world so that humans can try to make sense of it.” Our view of the world is a bit like glasses or contact lenses. We have to have the right “recipe” otherwise we won't be able to see clearly. Your worldview is important because it guides you in life. For example, Christians don't believe in abortion, so they won't have one, or secular humanists don't believe in God, so they don't have the same moral code as Christians. The bottom line is that whatever your view of the world is, it will affect every part of your life. The first of the six major worldviews is Christianity. Christianity is based on an omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent God. Christians believe that there is a tripartite God called the Trinity and that God created the world from nothing. He created man in His image. Man was originally created good until the Fall of Man. This caused a separation from God. The only way to God is salvation through Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. God sent His son to this earth as an infant and later grew up to die for our sins. To have eternal life we must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, confess our sins, and that God is who He says He is. Theology according to a Christian worldview begins... middle of paper... ... Postmodernists believe that there is no god, and cosmic humanists believe that everything is god. Their views on morality are also different. Christians believe that our moral foundation should be based on God and His character. Muslims believe that morality comes from the decrees of God. All worldviews have slightly or predominantly different views about God and His existence, morality, creation, and truth. I personally believe in the Christian worldview because I am a born again believer and have a personal relationship with God. I don't understand how people can believe that evolution is how the earth was created because there is evidence of existence of a God in the way the earth is organized and detailed. Ultimately, people must choose the only true worldview, the Christian worldview. Not all people will choose it and look out for the wrong prescription.
