Women were discriminated against in the 1700s. Men believe that men believed that women should cook, clean, take care of men and teach their children before they went to elementary school. Women, mothers and wives wanted to be able to say no to men; women were basically slaves, without rights, freedom and without education. Most women were too afraid to do what they wanted and didn't know what to do about it. Women wanted to be treated like people and to be able to own land and work.
