Guns have the ability to protect those who use them from those who intend to do evil. There were several reports of law-abiding citizens protecting themselves with firearms. Some cases even involve arresting criminals with possibly illegally obtained firearms. Given either position, too much gun control will result in bad luck, as will too little. Without perfect balance, lives are at risk. In this article I will discuss in more detail the ways in which this balance can be achieved. There are essentially two sides to gun control: those for it and those who are not: either they are absolutely against guns, or they are absolutely against regulating guns. Those against guns might simply say that completely removing guns would substantially reduce crime rates. They are appalled that criminals can illegally obtain firearms as easily as law-abiding citizens can obtain legal firearms. Having absolutely no gun control would most likely result in more violent crime and shootings. Without gun control, that means anyone can legally obtain a firearm. Currently, all states use a system of background checks that each individual must complete before they can purchase a firearm. The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 was an amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1993 1968.
