Topic > Conflict Management Application - 1029

Conflict Management has always been an interesting topic in an organization. I was a senior security analyst for a company called L&T in India. As a senior member, conflict management has been one of the most challenging aspects for me. At work we were always vigilant and had the responsibility to resolve the ongoing technical problems of our internal (software developers) and external (customers and partners) customers. Our team not only had to solve existing problems, but also focus on developing and improving current security designs. This stressful atmosphere has led to an unwanted number of conflicts within our team which has had positive and negative impacts on our unit. Through this article, I would like to discuss how conflict management was a challenge for me as a senior security analyst, the steps I took to resolve it, and what I could have done to improve it by learning from presentations and lecture slides. being there for 2 years, it was quite evident that there were a lot of conflicts within the team. There were obvious sources of conflict. My team of 25 members was divided into sub-teams consisting of 5 members per sub-team. Teams were formed on the basis of seniority rather than expertise. This has led to differences in opinions, ideas and methodologies. The senior members had their opinions and ideas completely different from those of the fresher and younger employees. These sub-teams had completely different people from each other, which led to differentiation within the teams. Each sub-team had its own goals and commitments to the company. Thus, their goals were incompatible with each other. The only common task between the sub-teams was to resolve complex t... middle of paper... conflicts (grade slide 12, Conflicts and Negotiation, slide 24). These are some of the methods and approaches I would implement in my workplace. As I stated at the beginning of this article, conflict management is an interesting topic to address. Initially, I discussed the sources of conflict in my organization and what my manager and I did to resolve it. We have been successful to a large extent. After reviewing the readings and lecture slides, I realize that while the solution offered was good, there are still better approaches to managing conflict. After understanding conflict management concepts through this course, I'm pretty sure I will implement a better solution if I find myself in a similar situation. Works Cited Rothenberg, S. (2009).
