There are many people who impact the world and the country they are in, for better or for worse. Lots of famous people to boot. In the last 150 years many things have changed and many things have been discovered. There have been wars between countries and one of the most notable wars was World War II. Many countries fought in it and many things happened in the years of this war. President Roosevelt was in office at the time and many new laws were implemented. This was a crucial time for America due to the ongoing Great Depression. President Roosevelt handled the Depression and the war as best he could and transformed America in many ways. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, also known as FDR, was born on January 30, 1882 in Hyde Park, New York and died on April 12, 1945 in Warm Springs, Georgia. Roosevelt attended Groton School in Massachusetts, which was an Episcopal school. Once he finished elementary school he went to Harvard. While at Harvard, his cousin Theodore Roosevelt became president of the United States and he became Franklin Roosevelt's role model. Franklin graduated in 1903 from Harvard and attended Columbia Law School. In 1905 he married Eleanor Roosevelt. In 1908 Roosevelt took a job with a large law firm dealing with corporate law. In 1910, Roosevelt ran for Senate in New York and won the election by a landslide. Once in office starting January 1, 1911, he served for one year and was re-elected to a second term. With Roosevelt's knowledge and Woodrow Wilson's support, he was appointed deputy secretary of the Navy. Roosevelt never served in the Navy, but he always loved the Navy and had a lot of knowledge about it. Since Roosevelt was the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, he gave him…half of the document…he got the idea to stick to that plan and that plan was a good one. The Big Three wanted Germany defeated so they would never have the power to start a war again. In 1944, the penultimate year of World War II, it was Roosevelt's time to run for re-election for the last time. In 1944 Roosevelt's health began to decline with further problems occurring to his body due to his health. Right now, Roosevelt is a very strong Democratic leader in the United States. Roosevelt changed his vice president to Harry S. Truman. Truman supported the wasteful spending of war funds. Roosevelt chose Truman because of his health problems because he knew he would not make it to the end of his fourth term and wanted Truman to take office when he died. Roosevelt's health worsened as he began to feel overwhelmed by work and could not keep up with everything that needed to be done.
