I know that I will be much more confident when I enter a patient's room than I was last year and I feel comfortable about my clinical and assessment skills . While I believe I made a lot of progress last year, I definitely have some concerns about this clinical, especially since I was abroad last semester. One of my biggest fears for the semester is that I will become very rusty in my grading skills. While I haven't forgotten the basics of assessment, I haven't practiced the skills since last May, which is a considerable amount of time. Likewise, I am worried about falling behind and not having the skills of my student nurse colleagues since I was not in clinic in the fall. I know it will be an adjustment for me to return to clinical practice, but I am comforted to know that other students in the group were also abroad. I hope that doing my maternity clinical work in addition to Adult Health II will help me feel more adjusted to the hospital environment more quickly. Also, I'm worried about being on a cardiovascular level. Last year at Newton Wellesley Hospital, I was on a geriatric floor that was significantly slower paced. Fueling my anxieties about being abroad last semester, I fear I'm out of step with my heart knowledge. I definitely don't know how to read an EKG, and I haven't interacted with a heart patient in the past year. As I said above, I recognize that I will likely experience a learning curve, especially at the beginning of the semester and I look forward to feeling more confident as the semester progresses
