In our group there is no obvious leader, each of us at some point has discovered our own leadership ability. However, this was never about giving direct orders to each other, but worked democratically. We are all great listeners for what is needed right now and express ideas in such a way that they present themselves as opportunities for others. In my past experience of team work, there will always be one person who acted as the leader for the majority of the project, what separates us from this is that each of us are leaders individually. Our group is relatively more task oriented but also maintain a good balance of social roles. Fortunately, there is no individualistic or hindering role in our group. Moses is a great contributor of opinions and ideas when it comes to work, often providing out-of-the-box information and giving input into the project. Socially, being a very comedic person, he is also the harmonizer of the group as he lightens the mood through humor. Joycelin, on the other hand, has a serious side, it was a great summary, she is very clear about what we want to achieve for the final product of our group relationship, so she can see the big picture and always advise the management appropriate to work on. Tricia, in my opinion, is a great norm and compromise maker, she was exceptional in correcting the careless mistakes we made in the relationship and her kind personality allowed her to help the group find an agreement for the majority of the time. Finally, my role is that of initiator and organizer. As I felt my personal strength was in keeping the group organized around a time-managed schedule and also in laying the foundation for the actual relationship. Because we each possess distinct leadership qualities, we have been able to push and support each other to achieve balance in different areas. Because of this, there was no problem of power struggle within the group, as there was no high or low status. For the duration of the group relationship, we each have very tight schedules and many academic papers to juggle. Therefore, we failed to meet the first arbitrary deadline set for our first draft. But instead of judging or criticizing each other, we communicated with each other and showed empathy and support to those who have pressing problems at hand..
