The Case of the Fired Waitress In business it is important for a company to establish a clear order of affairs when it comes to business ethics. Ethical business practices can build relationships with customers. Unethical business practices can cause a company to lose customers. In this case study the reader will become familiar with the ethical practices of a Red Lobster store in Pleasant Hill, Pennsylvania. Problem/Issue Identification A waitress at the Pennsylvania Red Lobster restaurant served an African-American couple. Wife orders ribs and was not satisfied with the rib or the waitress' service. After paying for the meal, he posted a card with customer comments in the comment box. The waitress then took the comment card from the box and destroyed it. This incident caused the maid to go to work. She was fired. From this case we can assume that the maid did not want the incident to be known. She may have taken other comment cards and never been caught. We can also assume that this is an isolated incident where the waitress made a big mistake.
