Topic > The Importance of a Global Code of Conduct - 1046

Week 11 Final Assessment It is very important for every company to have a global code of conduct as it sets a complete ethical and behavioral guideline on the decisions the organization makes in their daily activities. A comprehensive code of conduct ensures that all standards of the organization are high to effectively conduct business in both a legal and ethical manner. All employees within the organization are expected to comply with all guidelines and policies set out in the Global Code of Conduct. The global code of conduct gives the organization the opportunity to be able to make it extremely clear to all its employees and also stakeholders how the organization seeks to do business. The global code is one of the most important keys to adopting ethical communication within your organization. This code should focus more on the value system used by the global company rather than how employees act with respect to the laws of their local jurisdiction. The code must also include all lines of business, employees and departments. While it can be really difficult to cover all aspects globally, you should try to add several sections that cover all the different jurisdictions related to your local branches. More importantly, organizations must realize that the code must be updated as time passes and that employees must always be notified when changes are made to the code. On top of all this, some things I would include in my organization's overall code of conduct would be: • Alcohol and drug abuse • Compliance with company rules • Conflicts of interest • Dress code • Harassment and bullying • Social responsibility. ..... middle of the paper ...... matters of business, hiring, promotion, salespeople, and even types of investments. These types of close relationships can interfere with an employee's judgment, cause moral problems for employees, and, in most cases, even lead to conflicts of interest or sexual harassment within the organization. These types of relationships can have a negative impact on the organization as a whole and can also affect all the employees around it. In order for organizations to avoid and prevent these types of issues from occurring and maintain a positive work environment for all of their employees, they must have a human resources department that handles these types of issues. If this were to occur within an organization, it should be brought to the attention of the Human Resources representative and therefore the organization could take appropriate action to handle the situation.
