People who are under democracy will always participate in their properties, giving them the feeling of control. And there are also representatives. Although the republic is similar to democracy in that both protect the rights of the people, the republic takes care of minorities who no longer make sounds on their own. All citizens will have the same opportunity to vote and express their opinions individually. -- Chengzhuo Wang I understand that indirect democracy and republic are the same thing. A system of government in which people hold power and elect representatives to develop policies and initiatives. The only difference is that the meaning of Republic goes to the smallest depths of its system and democracy can be seen as a broader term. -Claire Vickery Democracy is a system of government run by the political power of the people. People have a say in decisions and also have the right to control them. In this case it is the majority that decides what the minority has to say. This is what gives people the right to vote, pay taxes, own businesses, and participate in government. As far as the Republic is concerned, decisions of the public voice are made exclusively through the Representatives. These terms are quite similar, but the difference is that the Republic ensures that no one is excluded from the opportunity to express themselves. This also includes the minority who have a say. -Jaylene
