1. IntroductionThis essay will discuss some of the social, ethical, and legal issues that an IT (information technology) professional is likely to face during his or her career in the information technology industry. Furthermore, I will talk about how these problems affect professionals and how they might approach these challenges to try to find workable solutions for them. 1.1 Social Issues When every IT professional begins his journey in the IT industry, he is bound to come across social issues that will need to be addressed with professionalism. An important issue is to be green in information technology. The earth's resources are continually in short supply, while their demand increases dramatically. Every IT professional should understand that energy consumption does not cover the entire spectrum of green IT. Recycle hazardous e-waste, optimize/virtualize servers to distribute workloads, adopt a long-term green policy, reduce workplace carbon footprint such as paperless desk, and efficient business continuity and data center model ; these are some examples of issues that professionals need to consider as all of these issues occur in the world of green IT. Another issue that an IT professional should take into consideration is generations in the workplace. (Klobucher 2011) talks about how Generation 2020 is approaching, how these professionals will be connected, interested, attentive and collaborative. Generation 2020 is the time when there will be five generations in the workplace. The IT professional will face challenges such as communication and collaboration, so he should be able to take these issues into account, be able to work effectively with the generation and become part of their network. The IT professional should...... middle of paper... professional reputation intact. This will create a strong IT world based on core values. Works Cited1.
