Topic > Islam and Jihad - 1244

The Arabic word Jihad literally means "holy struggle". It's not a holy war. War is war. No war can be holy. The blood of human beings is holy and sacred. The Quran says that the unjust killing of one man means the killing of all humanity. What is simply killing and what is unjust to kill. When someone kills a man without any reason or justification it is an unjust killing. When the judge sentences this murderer to death and issues the death order, it is a just murder. Likewise, when a war is imposed on you and you become a victim of persecution and aggression, you are allowed to defend yourself and kill the invaders or executioners. There are some Muslims who believe in Jihad in the name of aversion and conversion. They have an aggressive attitude. Such extremists divide the world into two blocs. The House of Peace (Darus Salam) and the House of War (Darul Harab). Wherever Islam does not exist as a code of life, it is a cause of war and we should crusade for the application of Islamic lifestyle and transform it into the House of Peace. This ideology has created immense problems for Muslims around the world. In Islam Jihad is of three types. The struggle of the language; Pen's fight and Sword's fight. Regarding religion, the Quran continually announces peaceful preaching through exhortation, love, logic, mercy and example. Nowhere did the Quran say that people of other faiths should be killed or converted by force. In Surah Al-Nahl in verse 125 the Quran says; "Invite (everyone) to the way of the Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in the best and kindest ways; for your Lord knows best those who have strayed from His path and those who receive guidance." The Jihad of Tongue and Pen means that one preaches one's ideas and ideologies with logic and love. Don't hurt other people's feelings. Do not plant the seeds of hatred and discord in the name of God. The Quran heralds all humanity as one community. We are members of one human family. Believers are human beings.
