Pro- and anti-war sympathies After examining this source, I can see that there is some reliable aspect to the footage. This is a modern film, made in 1995, which includes some footage of a soldier at war. This film may seem to show us the horrors of war, but it was originally intended to entertain us and not inform us. I believe it was made to make money, not to teach the public anything. The film focuses on a love story, which develops during childhood and includes war. The film represented the soldiers in Vietnam well, but this was not its initial intent. No modern film could accurately portray the attitudes of the soldiers, they might be able to create a war atmosphere but the true feeling and atmosphere cannot be achieved. This is because movies are fictional, they can get the information and setting right, but the feelings can't be matched. In the film we see a soldier who had a positive attitude towards the war, he was disciplined and courageous, he did not allow anything. if we prevent him from doing his job, we must look at this point and ask ourselves whether this represents all soldiers or just this one. I think it only represents a single soldier, all the troops couldn't have thought about the war this way. In the film the soldiers are not well represented, but once again we must realize that this film is not about war, but only about a love story. Not every soldier in war would have been like Forest. He was an innocent and naive man who felt proud to represent his country, few soldiers would have thought this would happen after experiencing the war. The attitudes towards the war in the film vary, we see Forest who is extremely proud to be part of this event, then we see Lieutenant Dan who is a racist who is also negative towards certain aspects of the war, but still seems happy to be there, partly because he feels it is his duty to be there and die there.
