Topic > Drugs and Alcohol Among Our Youth - 1215

Drugs and alcohol have become a major problem among young people. Laws have been enacted to prevent teenagers from obtaining alcohol and some legal drugs, but this still happens. The biggest problem is that teens don't understand how to handle alcohol and don't understand its risks or consequences. They want to be cool, fit in and have fun, but it's not all fun and games. Nowadays teenagers can find drugs and alcohol so easily. It's a scary thought to think about what our generation has come to and what generations after us will be like. According to philosophynow.org, the definition of cool is staying calm even when you're stressed. In my opinion, beautiful is when you feel you belong and people don't judge you, because they accept you for who you are. Many times they “quote,” Myers wrote (45). The conventional way of focusing more on appearance than substance can transform “cool” people into superior beings. However being cool can be seen as a negative attitude which leads to individual indifference and their social life can go into decline. Drugs and alcohol are not good and teenagers need to stop thinking that their life revolves around them. All teenagers have their own reasons for taking drugs. Research shows that people take drugs mainly to fit into a community or group, to escape or relax, to feel older than their friends, to have fun, to rebel and not be afraid, and to experiment. Many people who have taken drugs say they see them as a solution to a problem. But he later admitted that they ended up with bigger problems. Everyone has problems in life, because no one is perfect. Some benefits that people think drugs have are: having a group of friends, doing something exciting, dealing with stress, and helping with problems like shyness, sleep... middle of paper... alcohol. I think it's really overrated and should be harder to get, because most teenagers are really irresponsible. I think the consequences of drunk driving should be extremely more severe than they currently are. If some teenagers want to drink at their house and have a game night, then I absolutely think that's okay. I think there needs to be more serious consequences when teenagers can't be responsible when it comes to drinking. When it comes to illegal drugs, I don't agree at all. When it comes to drugs there is nothing but trouble. I would rather my kids drink alcohol than do drugs. Most drugs are addictive, while alcohol is not necessarily addictive. Drugs can kill you on the first try, so they are obviously bad and this is a no brainer. If people had common sense and consideration towards those around them, the world would be a better place.
