Many argue that he did not start the movement towards modern sculpture; however, Rodin had to do something to provoke the idea that his work was considered “different”. The Bronze Age was one of the first works to really attract attention for its diversity. I believe Rodin's new approach to his work was the reason for any kind of discussion about sculpture that moved into the modern scene. In the article examining the connection between Rodin and Michelangelo, the author states that, regarding Rodin's new style and approach, "I see it as Rodin's attempt to leave behind his academic training... and to adopt a completely different approach with which to study Michelangelo". ” (Sachs 35). The combination of Rodin abandoning his old styles and his interest in learning the secrets of Michelangelo are what leads to the creation of the foundations of modern sculpture. Arguments against modernizing Rodin's work can be refuted by arguing that Rodin took sculpture in a new direction; he changed the way sculpture was done and from then on influenced the way sculpture was done. It was not just Rodin's work that brought sculpture into the modern era, but it was the style he turned to
