Our world today is made up of a population of people who all want to integrate into society. With the constant evolution of new technologies, people are moving further apart. As new ways of introducing technology into our world constantly evolve, people have found ways to use it for good and bad purposes. We are currently on the brink of a world where communication between us is of low quality. The technology that is portrayed as bringing us together is, ironically, separating us. An example of this would be social media. Our world is getting better at using social media but getting worse at socializing in real life. Addiction to technology is making people lonelier overall, even if they appear to be socially connected. (Frankel 31) Social media is not the only way technology will impact our future. The demand for technology has been the cause of great improvements over the years. Although Huxley describes aspects of genetic engineering in the book as being imposed on society by the government, I believe that government involvement should not be necessary at all. Since technological improvements also lead to improvements in genetic engineering capabilities, scientists have found ways to make such capabilities attractive to the average person. The quest to use available resources to improve the appearance and characteristics of ourselves has become extremely evident. Sometimes people seem to overlook the bigger picture regarding the impact that decisions they can have not only on themselves, but also on the rest of the world (Huxley) (Frankel). Brave New World depicts the government's use of technology as a way to genetically engineer humans. In Huxley's novel, the government uses its power... middle of paper... if they did not contain the mutation. The result was a healthy baby whose umbilical cord cells were used to treat his older sister. This is another great example of the positive results of the latest technologies that allow us to do more to help sick people (Frankel). Threats and resources must be carefully evaluated by members of a society to ensure freedom within us. We must understand that although new technologies will lead to many great innovations in our world, their uncontrollable use will lead to many problems that may be irreversible for us and the future of humanity.
