Comparison of the roles of women in Christianity and Islam ChristianityConcept of God:Christians believe that the image of God is made up of three Gods merged into one Alone. The members of the Trinity are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and they are all equal. Each form of God has the same attributes of omnipotent, omniscient, ever-present, immutable, and eternal. (Dew)Concept of prayer:For Christians, prayer is the foundation of their religion, but it is less strict than Islam. Christian believers create and sustain a relationship with God through direct, two-way communication in prayer. The Book of Prayer and its Origins: The Bible consists of both the book of Judaism and the story of the life of Jesus. Various authors wrote the 66 separate books containing the word of God. These circulated independently until the Council of Hippo brought together the selected books in the only volume of the Bible used by Christians. Book Date: The dates of the books of the Bible are only approximate. The Old Testament was written around 1250 BC to 100 BC and the New Testament from 40 AD to 70 AD. The 66 books were compiled together in 390 AD at the Council of Hippo. ...... middle of paper ......Responsibility towards children: Fathers have the responsibility to ensure the survival of their children. Mothers are responsible for the moral and social education of their children. Concept of sin and repentance: In Islam there is no belief in original sin. All humanity is destined for paradise unless they reject Allah. A Muslim only needs to repent and ask for forgiveness to be saved by God. Priests/jurists and their roles: Since there is no institution like the Church in Islam, there is no official authority. So, there is no hierarchy of spiritual leaders like priests, but each believer controls his own spirituality.
