These circulated independently until the Council of Hippo brought together the selected books in the only volume of the Bible used by Christians. Book Date: The dates of the books of the Bible are only approximate. The Old Testament was written around 1250 BC to 100 BC and the New Testament from 40 AD to 70 AD. So, there is no hierarchy of spiritual leaders like priests, but each believer controls his own spirituality.
